TALES FROM THE GOLDEN AGE Romania/France, 2009 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days director Cristian Mungiu writes and co-directs this omnibus film, in which five filmmakers recreate urban myths popular from the last decade of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu’s rule. Each told with bitter irony, the episodes together form a picaresque portrait of life during the grim 1980s and serve as a testament to the range of talents of Romanian cinema. 35mm, color, Romanian with English subtitles, 141 min.
